Let It Bleed By Ian Rankin (52 Books,12 Down, 40 To Go)

Let It Bleed is the seventh in Ian Rankin’s Inspector Rebus series. I am probably beginning to sound like a broken record when it comes to this series, but each successive volume seems to build upon the strengths of the last, each volume better than the last. This time around there is something rotten in the highest levels of the Scottish government. Highly recommneded.

Typhoid Mary By Anthony Bourdain (52 Books,11 Down, 41 To Go)

I figured that this would be something I would dig, since I do love Bourdain’s No Reservations show on the Travel Channel. Well, this small volume is interesting enough. I suppose it is difficult to make typhoid interesting. The only real problem I had with the book is that Bourdain fills in a few too many of the gaps with his own value judgments….”Surely in this situation Mary must have felt….” is the type of statement that comes up pretty often. Only recommended if you are a Bourdain fanatic.

Ian Rankin Mortal Causes

Ian Rankin Mortal Cuases

It’s been a while since I blogged one of these. A mystery illness has been keeping me down for about the past month. Not much to say here, except another fine Ian Rankin effort. Highly Recommended. This time around Rankin tackles the catholic/protestant troubles.
