Actually, I was quite disappointed by After Dark, even more so since I am a huge fan of Murakami. Taking place between midnight and dawn, and somewhere between reality and dream, the plot follows two sisters (one in reality, the other in the dream-world), along with a jazz musician, a prostitute, and a ex-wrestler. Murakami is obviously trying to explore the alienation that these late night denizens are experiencing but the result is just a muddle.
